In January 2025, we published our first report on gender-based violence in the Slovak Deaf community. It was an important step for us — the very first attempt to map this issue in Slovakia. Since then, we have gone back through the data repeatedly, examined it in detail, and found that some numbers in the original report were not accurate.
We believe in transparency. Rather than quietly fixing things behind the scenes, we decided to publish a fully revised version 2.0 of the report and openly explain what changed.
What we corrected and added
We re-verified every single statistic against the raw survey data. We fixed errors in demographic breakdowns — the sexual orientation categories were incomplete, and the regional distribution of respondents contained inaccuracies. We also significantly expanded the report. We added detailed methodology sections covering how the questionnaire was adapted from the Swedish NKJT original, how informed consent was handled, the accessibility features we built in, and an ethics statement for the entire research process.
The key findings remain the same — 42.7% of respondents reported experiencing violence, the gap between experiencing violence and seeking help persists, and the need for accessible support services is urgent. That has not changed. What changed are some specific numbers and how they are presented.
We also added a comparative analysis section where we compare our results with NKJT’s own research from Sweden. And at the end of the report, you will find a detailed corrections log so anyone can see exactly what was changed compared to the original version.

We want our work to be trustworthy and accurate. That is why we see this correction not as a failure, but as part of an honest research process.
