The DCHD Project (Deaf Culture, Heritage and Diversity) focuses on making interdisciplinary studies of Deaf culture, heritage, and sign language accessible to young people and youth workers. 🌍 The main ambition of the project is to build a bridge between academic knowledge and the everyday lives of Deaf youth, to foster pride in identity and language, and to strengthen an inclusive environment. 💜

Deaf Studies brings together cultural, linguistic, and historical aspects of Deaf people’s lives, but this knowledge is mostly available only at the academic level. For Deaf youth or youth workers, this means limited access to information that is crucial for understanding their own culture and heritage. 🧩

The goal of the DCHD project is to bridge this gap through:

🏫 Trainings and seminars on Deaf Studies for youth workers
📚 The creation of educational materials that introduce Deaf culture and history
🤝 Building a network of youth workers who can share knowledge and experiences across communities

The project targets young people aged 16 to 25 and provides them with space to explore the richness of their own culture. 🌟 At the same time, it equips youth workers with practical tools and knowledge that enable them to create inclusive and enriching environments for the Deaf generation. 🛠️

The project is implemented by partners from Slovakia 🇸🇰, the Netherlands 🇳🇱, Austria 🇦🇹, and Italy 🇮🇹, supporting international cooperation to raise awareness of Deaf culture and inclusion. 🌐
