On 20–21 May 2025, the second transnational meeting of the DeafCitizen project partners took place in the city of Prešov. The project focuses on promoting civic engagement and strengthening the inclusion of deaf people in society. The meeting was hosted by the Pavol Sabadoš Boarding Combined School and brought together partners from three countries – Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Spain.

The Slovak team was represented by Marek Kanaš, who attended in person, and Diana Majerčáková, who joined the meeting online during the first day. Communication took place in International Sign and English, ensuring equal access to information for all participants.

The program was divided into two intensive working days. The first day focused on collaborative work on questionnaires, the development of worksheets, and discussions about the e-learning methodology. During lunch and a school tour, partners had the opportunity to observe inclusive education in practice. The day concluded with a joint dinner, providing space for informal conversations and the strengthening of mutual relationships.

The second day was marked by concrete agreements – partners divided tasks within work packages, shared experiences, and jointly planned the next steps. The discussions were factual, open, and demonstrated a strong commitment from all participants to effective cooperation.

The DeafCitizen project delivers tangible outcomes aimed at:
strengthening the ability of deaf students to identify disinformation, form arguments, and engage in discussions,
improving their language skills, especially in English and International Sign Language,
enhancing collaboration between the deaf community and teachers, who play a key role in shaping young people,
and expanding educational resources available in sign languages.

This project is co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme, enabling international cooperation to bring practical solutions and promote equal opportunities for all, regardless of disadvantage.
