Innosign had the honor of providing project management for DeafStudio within the framework of the international project MADE – Museum and Artistic Education for the Empowerment of the Deaf.
This was an ERASMUS+ Youth program project, launched in February 2019 and lasting 24 months. Eight partners from six European countries – Ireland, Poland, Austria, Romania, Slovakia, and Italy – collaborated on the project.
Project Goal
The goal of the MADE project was to create an innovative educational model for young Deaf people aged 18 to 35, enabling them to become guides for Deaf visitors in museums. This approach not only empowers young people with hearing impairments but also enhances the accessibility and inclusiveness of cultural institutions such as museums and galleries.
Through this project, museums become more attractive to Deaf audiences, while new forms of art interpretation based on visual communication are introduced. At the same time, a bridge is built between the Deaf community and cultural institutions.
Why Museums and Art?
Art is universal. No special education is required to understand or enjoy it. The MADE project is based on the idea that visual art has enormous potential to engage the Deaf community, which naturally relies on visual forms of communication.
By educating young Deaf individuals as museum guides, the way this community perceives cultural spaces is transformed. New opportunities for participation and employment open up, creating a natural connection between the world of art and the Deaf community.
Innosign and Its Role
In this project, Innosign played a key role as project manager for the Slovak partner, DeafStudio. Our responsibility included coordinating activities, providing communication support, managing administrative tasks, and ensuring the project outcomes were delivered in line with ERASMUS+ program requirements.
This collaboration proved that reliable project management is an essential part of successful international initiatives that bring positive change to society.
