DEAF MINDWELL – mental well-being of Deaf young people

DEAF MINDWELL: mental well-being of Deaf young people

Deaf young people face serious barriers to mental-health support: services work in spoken language, and in a small community the interpreter is often someone they know. DEAF MINDWELL builds peer support in sign language — training deaf young people to support each other and to know when and where to refer for professional help.

Innosign coordinates the project. It builds on our own survey of 181 deaf respondents, academically validated by Comenius University Bratislava, and develops a peer-support curriculum, a mental-health vocabulary in Slovak Sign Language and training for deaf young people aged 18–25.
