We are excited to announce that our company, Innosign, has joined a new and innovative project called LSAS – Let’s Sign About S3x. This project, funded under the Erasmus+ program, focuses on developing tools to prepare deaf youth on topics related to reproduction, sexuality, gender diversity, health, and rights in sign language.
Our goal is to work with youth workers and trainers to provide them with the skills, knowledge, and tools to address this important subject. The project aims to raise awareness among youth workers who engage with deaf youth, enabling them to effectively handle sensitive questions and situations in their daily work.
We plan to develop sensitization workshops and multimedia materials in sign and plain language for use in sexuality education. This is very important because SEX should not be a taboo subject. Everyone should have the opportunity to learn about it, be informed about issues related to sex and sexuality, and discuss them without shame.
We are collaborating with five key partners: Turkoois from the Netherlands, Equalizent from Austria, IST – Instituto dei Sordi di Torino from Italy, and UNB – Unie neslyšících Brno from the Czech Republic. The first transnational project meeting, held on May 28 and 29, 2024, was hosted by IST.
The meeting included participants Diana Majerčáková and Marek Kanaš, who contributed to discussions on key aspects of the project. Together, we addressed the production of educational videos and the selection of topics that are most relevant to deaf youth.
This project represents an important step towards improving access to sexual education for the deaf community, and we believe it will contribute to positive changes in this area.
