The aim of the DeafPedia project is to create a comprehensive, inclusive, and accessible website that will provide information and educational resources about the Deaf community, sign language, and cultural sensitivity. The website will promote social inclusion and understanding between hearing and Deaf communities, offering a connection between them through modern interactive tools.
Key Features of the Project:
- Content Structure: The website will include 75 topics divided into 16 categories, covering a wide range of information about the Deaf community, sign languages, and their culture.
- Multilingual Accessibility: All content will be available in three written languages – Slovak, Dutch, and English – and will also be translated into Slovak and Dutch sign languages.
- Educational Tools: Interactive quizzes and e-learning modules will allow users to explore Deaf culture and the basics of sign language in a fun and engaging way.
- Accessibility: The website will be designed to be inclusive and accessible for everyone, including users with disabilities.
Project Objectives:
- Raise awareness and educate the general public about the Deaf community, sign language, and cultural sensitivity.
- Provide a platform that will serve as a bridge between hearing and Deaf communities.
- Support active citizenship, inclusion, and acceptance of the Deaf community.
- Create a space for exploring the diversity and heritage of the Deaf community.
The DeafPedia website will be a unique resource that fosters education and understanding not only in Slovakia and the Netherlands but also on an international scale.
